چکیده
Abstract I propose the notion of ‘epistemic sanity’, a property parsimony between holding true but not false beliefs and consideration our cognitive limitations. Where ‘alethic value’ is epistemic value beliefs, potential’ an agent amount extra alethic that she expected to achieve, given her current environment, reasoning skills. Epistemic sanity would be related (true or false) increase agent's potential (relevant beliefs) decrease it (this parsimony). Suspension judgment, forgetting, clutter avoidance are main contributors sanity, where this paper focuses on suspension. argue rational suspension favors relevant which case for extremes opinionation (no suspension) skepticism (general suspension). In absence evidence, opinionated agents often forced rely principles such as principle indifference, dominates indifference in terms some conditions. A only find beneficial adopt if considers herself anti-expert about entire agenda, then ‘flipping’ maximizes relation skepticism. The study results ‘impure’ veritism, can deal with limitations veritism (e.g., explaining existence beliefs).

Why be diurnal? Or, why not be cathemeral?
As a behavioural strategy, cathemerality is thought to confer considerable advantages by allowing animals to extend activity flexibly into either the diurnal or nocturnal phase in response to the prevailing ecological conditions. Factors such as temperature, access to food sources and minimising the risk of predation are all thought to be important in promoting cathemerality, although previous ...

متن کاملEpistemic Virtues and Epistemic Values: A Skeptical Critique1
Epistemic virtues or epistemic values, we are told, play a major role in our assessments of the bearing of evidence in science. There is something quite right about this notion; and there is something quite wrong about it. My goal in the chapter is to explain each. In brief, what is right about the notion of epistemic virtue or value is that criteria such as simplicity and explanatory power do ...

The bottle neck in building a practical natural language processing system is not those problems which have been often discussed in research papers, but in ilandling much more dirty, exceptional (for theoreticians, but we frequently encounter) expressions. This panel will focus on the problem which has been rarely written but has been argued informally among researchers who have tried to build ...

Have you ever been in a sauna? If yes, according to our recent survey conducted on Amazon Mechanical Turk, people who go to saunas are more likely to know that Mike Stonebraker is not a character in “The Simpsons”.
